Working With Free Goods in Order Adjustments

Your supplier might offer free goods when you purchase specified amounts, quantities, or weights of other goods in a purchase order. You can include the free goods in the adjustment schedules that you use for order adjustments. If your adjustment schedule includes free goods, then the system adds them to your purchase order if the order qualifies for them.

Considerations for Free Goods

Before you begin working with free goods when applying order adjustments, you should consider the following information:

Topic

Description

Preserve free goods

If you enter 1 in the Preserve Free Goods on Purchase Orders processing option in the R45750 program, the system does not add, modify, cancel, or delete any records for free goods. The preservation of records in Add mode means that the system does not create any records for free goods even when an order qualifies for them.

If you leave the processing option blank to enable changes to free goods lines, then when you apply or reapply order repricing to an order, the system removes any existing free goods lines from the grid and creates new lines based on the total quantities and adjustment schedule. In Add mode, the system adds free goods lines to the order if the order qualifies for them.

Viewing free goods lines

You must save an order and then inquire on it before you can view active and cancelled free goods lines in a purchase order.

When you click the Apply Reprice menu option to apply order adjustments and the Preserve Free Goods on Purchase Orders processing option is blank (changes allowed), the system hides any existing free goods lines. The system hides the free goods lines because the R45750 program always begins with the base cost and recalculates all lines, including whether the order qualifies for free goods. If you save the order after applying the order adjustment, the hidden free lines are re-displayed as cancelled lines.

Report output

The report output for R45750 does not include free goods.

Table updates

Amounts for free goods are not written to the Price History table (F4074) when you apply or reapply order adjustments.

Note: When using weight level break for order adjustments the free good lines will be represented in the Purchasing UOM.
