Understanding EU Electronic Invoice Processing

Companies in European Union are required to submit a digital version of the invoices in the EN16931 template. The countries can define a country-specific version (CIUS). The information in this electronic document is issued as an Extensible Markup Language (XML) file based on the EN16931 standards using a common template.

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Localizations for European Union uses the standard programs to generate a printable invoice document, and country-specific generic invoice functionality to generate a digital electronic invoice.

See European Union (EU) - Electronic Invoicing - XML Mapping (Doc ID 2533515.1).

When you run the Print Invoices program (R42565) or the Print Legal Documents from A/R program (R7430030), the system calls the Generic Legal Document Extractor program (R7030040) to print the invoice information.

You cannot use these programs to generate electronic invoices (UBL 2.1) for the Contract and Service Billing and Real Estate modules.
  • R15500 - Real Estate Management Invoices
  • R48504 - Invoice Print Selection - Contract and Service Billing
  • R48506 - Invoice Print - Contract and Service Billing
  • R48507 - Invoice Print with Smart Fields - Contract and Service Billing
Note: These reports do not generate common invoice header that is mandatory for e-Invoicing transactions. If you run the above mentioned programs, the system prints an error message using the Invoice Print - Error program (R7030050). The error message states that these UBEs are not legal for EU standard invoice print and you must use the Generate Legal Document Header program (R7430020) to generate the legal document header.
