Oracle by Example brandingManaging Special Instructions Using the Web Client

section 0Before You Begin

This 20-minute OBE shows you how to review and apply text updates for User Defined Codes (UDCs) and Data Dictionary Glossaries, using the web client.

The Manage Special Instructions application (P964720W) enables you compare the existing UDC value and Data Dictionary Glossary text existing in your system with the proposed changes that are included in the software update.

In this OBE, you will:

  • Download an ESU with special instructions from the Oracle JD Edwards Update Center.
  • Import the ESU using the web client.
  • Apply UDCs and DD Glossaries changes to the staging environment.
  • Deploy the ESU with special instructions edits to the target environment, all deployed target environments, and to a specific deployed target environment.

Background

Starting with Tools Release 9.2.8, you can use the Manage Special Instructions application (P964720W) on the web client to do a side-by-side comparison of the new and old text values, review, and choose whether to accept the changes.

Note: When you upload an ESU containing special instructions changes through web deployment into the update repository, the system automatically imports Manual Special Instructions (MSI) XML from the package into the staging area.
