Oracle by Example brandingDeploying ESUs with Force Spec Merge Using Change Assistant and AIS

section 0Before You Begin

This 20-minute OBE shows you how to force merge object changes to a target environment using Change Assistant with AIS (Application Interface Server).

In this OBE, you will:

  •  Verify the Update Center and AIS connection preferences.
  •  Search for ESU packages on the Oracle JD Edwards Update Center using Change Assistant.
  •  Download and deploy ESU with Force Spec Merge.
  •  Review the ESU deployment reports.

Background

Starting with Tools Release 9.2.9.3, you can force merge object changes to a target environment when updates are applied using Change Assistant with AIS (Application Interface Server).

The Force Spec Merge option enables you to bypass object date evaluation process in Update Manager (which only merges the objects which are new or updated by Oracle) and merge the object, regardless of whether the incoming object is new or not. You can save significant time by mass updating objects with their pristine versions into a target system environment using Change Assistant rather than updating one object at a time using the Work With Software Updates application.

Prerequisite

To deploy ESUs with the Force Spec Merge feature using Change Assistant, ensure that you have consumed:

  • The latest Planner ESU or Tools Rollup ESU is available on the Update Center.
  • The latest versions of UDOs JDE_ORCH_UpdateManager_Deploy and SREQ_UpdateManager_Deploy are deployed.
