This 30-minute OBE shows you how to deploy UDO packages using Change Assistant with the AIS Server connection.

In this OBE, you will:

  • Verify the Update Center and AIS Connection Preferences.
  • Search for UDO packages on the Oracle JD Edwards Update Center using Change Assistant.
  • Download UDO Packages as a Batch.
  • Deploy the UDO as a Server Batch.
  • Download Special Instructions from Change Assistant.

Background

Starting with Tools Release 9.2.8.2, you can deploy User Defined Objects (UDOs) packages using Change Assistant with the Application Interface Services (AIS) Server connection.


section 1Verifying Update Center and AIS Connections

To verify the JD Edwards Update Center and the AIS Server connections:

  1. Launch Change Assistant from your desktop.
  2. From the Edit menu, select Preferences. The Preferences form is displayed.

  3. In the Authentication tab, enter valid Update Center credentials.

  4. In the AIS tab, enter these valid EnterpriseOne AIS credentials:
    • Authorization: Basic
    • USERID: AIS User ID
    • Password: AIS Password
    • Environment: Target AIS Environment
    • Role: *ALL
    • URL: AIS URL

  5. Click OK to save the preferences. The Status Bar at the bottom right of the screen verifies the connections.

section 2Searching for UDO Packages on the Update Center Using Change Assistant

  1. Select Search for Packages from the Change Assistant tree node.
  2. In the Advanced Search screen, set these criteria:
    • Type: EnterpriseOne User Defined Objects
    • Release: 9.2
    • Platform: All Platforms
    • Target Environment: PS920 or a valid target environment to deploy the package.

  3. Click Search Search icon.

    You can show or hide the deployed packages using the Show Hide Buttons toggle buttons.
    Note: The search results are environment aware. The packages that are already deployed to the specified environment are grayed out and not selected. The UDO packages that are already in the repository are also not selected.


section 3Downloading UDO Package as a Batch

  1. Click Delete icon on the toolbar to deselect all packages.
  2. Select one or more UDO packages.

  3. To download the selected packages to the default location as a batch, click Download To. After download completes, the Status of the downloaded packages changes to In Repository.
    When AIS is active, the downloaded packages are imported to the package repository F96700R.

section 4Deploying UDO Packages as a Batch

  1. Select Work with Server Batches from the tree node.
  2. Select the batch containing the downloaded packages. The Packages tab on the Batch Details pane lists all the packages in the batch.

  3. Select Deploy from the Toolbar.

    Alternatively, click the Batch Actions tab and then click New Deploy Action.

    The Software Update Environment Selection form is displayed.

  4. Select the Auto Share option to automatically share the UDOs after deployment.

  5. Click OK to start the deployment.

  6. Click Show Details to review the deployment steps.

    On completion of deployment, the Batch Activity Report is displayed in the browser. The status of each of the packages deployed is available in the report.

section 5Downloading Special Instructions from Change Assistant

  1. Open Change Assistant from the desktop link with an Update Center connection.

  2. Expand the Search for Packages navigation node to begin searching the Update Center and click Advanced Search.
  3. Enter the following search criteria and click Search.
    • Type: EnterpriseOne User Defined Objects
    • Release: 9.2
    • Name: UDO_9.2_10606

  4. Select the package.

  5. Use the Tool drop-down to select Special Instructions.

  6. In the Special Instructions options, select Special Instructions

  7. Click Analyze Packages. When the analysis process finishes, the Summary Analysis Report appears.

    Note: Hover over the processing icon at the top of the browser window to view background processes.
  8. The Summary Analysis report includes the special instructions for the list of selected packages.

  9. To review the special instructions for the selected UDO package on the Web Client, sign in to the Web Client and run the Work with Software Update Special Instructions (P96700RW ) program from the fast path. Alternatively, you can navigate to Software Updates menu (GH9612) and run the Work with Software Update Special Instructions (P96700RW) program.

  10. In the Query by Example (QBE) field, enter the ESU Name UDO10606 and click Find to filter the special instructions.
