OVFS Constants

The OVFS Constants program (P09302) controls whether users can modify column and row definitions that are used in statement definitions. The OVFS constants apply to only row and column definitions that are used in statement definitions; they do not apply to row and column definitions that are not used in statement definitions, and they do not apply to the statement definitions or statement versions.

The OVFS Constants program has separate constants for row definitions and column definitions. The constants can be set up to generate a warning message or an error message if someone attempts to modify a component that is used in a statement definition. If you receive an error message, you cannot save changes that you made to the component. If you receive a warning message, you can save the change.

If your system is set up to generate an error message and does not allow you to change the row or column definition, you can delete the row or column definition from all statement definitions that use the row or column definition, and then add the row or column definition to the statement definition after you make the modifications. As with all of the components in the OVFS feature, you can delete the row or column definition from the statement definition only if you have permissions to do so.
