What Row Definitions Do I Need to Set Up?

In your initial analysis of the statement output that you want to generate, you determined that the account balances that you need to retrieve should be set up at the row level. You want to show the account balances for the range of your asset, liability, and shareholder equity accounts.

In the balance sheet statement, you also want to:

  • Show account descriptions instead of account numbers.

To retrieve descriptions, you must select the Return Description check box in the row definition.

  • List accounts in the statement in the order that they're listed in the model chart of accounts.

To enable sequencing by the object account, you must select the Enable Level of Detail Rollup check box in the row definition.

  • Roll up account balances by level of detail.

To enable this feature, you must elect the Enable Level of Detail Rollup check box in the row definition. In addition to providing subtotals by the level of detail, you can use the detail levels to format the account balances and descriptions when you set up the layout in the Layout Editor.

  • Show the liability account balances with the sign reversed.

To display account balances with the sign reversed from the way the accounts are stored in the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne table, you can either select the Reverse Sign check box in the row definition or you can reverse the sign using a calculation in the layout. Because you need to reverse the sign of only some of the account balances that you retrieve, you would need to set up at least two row definitions; one with the sign reversed for the liability accounts, and one without the sign reversed for the asset accounts. In this case study, you decide to set up one row definition for the entire range of account balances you want to retrieve, and then use a calculation in the Layout Editor to reverse the sign of the liability account balances.

  • Format the text in the statement using bolded text for some account levels, using different font sizes for different account levels, and underlining totals.

This table describes the attributes of the row definitions that you need to set up for your balance sheet statement:
