Understanding Engineering Change Management Setup

Before you use Engineering Change Management, you must set up codes, next numbers, and the approval routing master for engineering change orders (ECOs). The codes that you must set up are user-defined and specify the type, priority, and status of the ECO. The UDCs also indicate how the system handles existing items that are affected by the ECO and the reasons for the ECO. You must also set up next numbers to automatically number ECOs according to the specifications. You can set up the system to route the ECO information to specified reviewers for their approval before it is processed. To do so, you must identify an ECO approval routing.
