Kit Component Processing

The JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Transportation Management system changes a component line to a stock line type when you ship the line without the kit parent. This action disassociates the component line from the kit parent; therefore, component invoicing for kits on transportation lines is not available. When you ship the component without the parent, the system:

  1. Converts the component line to a stock line type.

  2. Overrides the price for the component stock line to zero.

The system uses the calculated price on the kit parent based on the Kit Pricing Method setup in the item record.

  3. Sets the price on the kit parent line as an override price.

Overriding the price enables you to invoice the sales order without charging more than the original kit parent extended amount.

When you ship the final component on a kit, ensure that you ship confirm at the parent line to ensure the system updates the statuses on the sales order invoices for the kit item.

When processing kits the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne system:

  • Issues a warning during shipment confirmation to indicate that the system is about to remove the component item from the kit.

  • Assigns a shipment number at the parent level. When you ship components separately from the parent, the system uses the original shipment number from the parent on the new stock line for the component and assigns a new shipment number to the kit parent.

  • Changes the price for components to zero currency and sets the price on the parent item as an override price.

    • If you attempt to invoice the component, the system uses the zero currency price.

    • If you run the reprice UBE, the system does not reprice the kit parent because the price override flag has been set and functions as a manual override.
