Understanding Volume-Based Buying Recommendations

If you want recommendations to buy a larger quantity to receive a lower price, you can specify adjustments and a percentage tolerance that determines when the system displays an order line that qualifies for a volume-based buying recommendations.

To activate a buying recommendation, you must enter a tolerance percentage in the Alert for Volume-Based Buying Recommendations within the Tolerance processing option on the Processing tab in the P4310/P43101 program. This tolerance percentage specifies how sensitive the system is when displaying the recommendation. The system checks for buying opportunities by increasing the order quantity on the purchase order line by the tolerance percentage that you specify, and then it determines whether another quantity break is available using the larger quantity.

For Example: If the original quantity entered in a Purchase Order is 10 and the tolerance percentage is set as 20%.

In this case, the system searches for adjustments for a level break until quantity 12.

(10 + (20% of 10 = 2) ) = 12.

If adjustments are found, an alert message is displayed.

The system uses the Price Adjustment Type table (F4071) to process volume-based buying information.
