This 15-minute tutorial shows you how to set up a sales proposal template with the BIP (Business Intelligence Publisher) feature of the sales proposal generation functionality.

Background

A sales professional needs to use the proposal generation feature to generate sales proposal from the quote order 6002.

In this OBE, you will use the BIP feature to generate the required proposal.

What Do You Need?

  • Before you start the setup of sales proposal templates, you must complete the following:
  • • Convert existing tags to BIP tags for the desired template.
  • • Upload the BIP template using the Proposal Generation Setup program (P90CA242).
  • • Set up the report definition attributes using the BI Publisher Report Definitions program (P95620).

section 1Converting Existing Tags to BIP Tags

To convert the existing tags to BIP tags, you have to add the tags to BIP template in this way:

  1. In the Fast Path field, enter BV.
  2. Enter R90CA024 in the Batch Application field and click Find.
  3. Select the row with version XJDE0001 and click Submit.
  4. On the Work with Batch versions form, select Submitted Jobs from the Form menu.
  5. Select the latest job in the grid and then select View RD Source from the Row menu. For example, select the row with Job # 158586 in the following screenshot.
  6. This is an example of how to select a job and select the report definition template.

  7. Click the R90CA024_XJDE0001_158586.xml link and save the file to your system.
  8. Access the file from where you saved it on your machine and rename it to RD90CA024_XML_TEMPLATE.xml.
  9. Open the existing sales proposal template in the Microsoft Word application. For example, open the Quotation.rtf template and select BI Publisher from the menu bar.
  10. Use this screen to select the BI Publisher option from the menu.

  11. On the Word page, click Sample XML from the toolbar under the BI Publisher menu. Then, select RD90CA024_XML_TEMPLATE.xml from the Please select XML data window and click Open.
  12. Use this screen to select XML data template.

  13. Click Field in the Toolbar and select Date from the Field window.
  14. Use this screen to select tags for the template.

  15. Click Insert. Repeat steps 10 and 11 to select and insert all tags that exist in the template. 
    Note: The template shows all tags that you select, for example, the Date tag that you selected shows in the template.
  16. Use this screen to select tags for the template.

  17. Click Close.
  18. Click Save from the File menu of the Word page to save the template.

section 2Uploading a Template Using P90CA242

To upload the templates with BIP tags, you can use the Proposal Generation Setup application. To upload templates:

  1. Sign in to the EnterpriseOne environment and enter P90CA242 in the Fast Path field.
  2. On the Proposal Generation Setup screen, click the Template Administration icon.
  3. This is the Template Administration screen.

  4. On the Work with Proposal Generation Templates form, select PGProductCodeQuery_P90CA242 in the Query field.

  6. Click Add.
  7. On the Add BI Publisher Object to Repository screen, complete the following fields:
    • Object Name: TP90CA024TR7
    • Object Description: Proposal Generation Quotation Template
    • Object Type: TR
    • Product Code: 90CA
    • Product System Code: 90CA
    • Object Region: US
    • Object Language: EN
  8. Click OK.
  9. On the File Upload screen, browse and select the Quotation.rtf file.
  10. Click Load.
  11. On the Update BI Publisher Object Effective Dates screen, complete the dates as:
    • Start Date: 09/01/2019
    • End Date: 10/01/2019
  12. Click OK. You should see the Work With Proposal Generation Templates form with the new template TP90CA024TR7 added as below:

section 3Setting Up the Report Definition Attributes Using P95620

To generate a proposal, set up the report definition attributes:

  1. In the EnterpriseOne environment, enter P95620 in the Fast Path field.
  2. On the Report Definitions – BI Publisher Report Definitions form, enter RD90CA024 in the Query field of the Report definition Name column and click Find.
  3. Select the check box for the RD90CA024 row and click OK.
  4. On the Report Definitions – Update Report Definition form, click Burst/Delivery from the Form menu.
  5. On the Update Report Definition – Bursting and Delivery form, enter the delivery option in the Data Driven Recipient field. You can enter your email address as the delivery option.
  6. Select the Overall Output File Name tab. Enter CRM0111 in the Data Item for Output Filename field.
  7. Click OK.
  8. On the Report Definitions – Update Report Definition screen, click OK.


section 4Generating the Sales Proposal

You can generate a proposal for a sales or a quote order. To generate a proposal for a quote order:

  1. In the EnterpriseOne environment, enter P4210|PROPGEN in the Fast Path field.
  2. On the Customer Service Inquiry form, enter 6002 in the Query field of the Order Number column.
  3. Select the first row and select Order, then Generate Proposal from the Row menu.
  4. On the Proposal Generation form, select PGProductCodeQuery_P90CA24 in the Query field.

  6. Select the row with TP90CA024TR7 in the Object Name column and click OK.
  7. Select Template
