4.1 Understanding Configuring Global Search Using PeopleSoft Search Framework

PeopleSoft Search Framework is a PeopleTools indexed search technology that relies on the use of a predefined search engine by way of PeopleSoft Integration Broker. It supports OpenSearch as the Search Engine. PeopleSoft Integration Broker provides the interface between PeopleSoft Search Framework and OpenSearch to deploy PeopleSoft Search, build the indexes, and return the search results.

The components that you need to install and configure for search framework, analytics, and visualizations vary depending upon which PeopleTools release your update image is built on.

PeopleTools supports OpenSearch and OpenSearch Dashboards.

This documentation, and some labels in the user interface, are updated to reflect the transition to OpenSearch for search framework and OpenSearch Dashboards for PeopleSoft Insights. Some of the examples you see in this documentation may not reflect what you see in your environment.

Important:

There are deployment and sizing considerations which should be determined prior to implementation of search. Review the document PeopleSoft Search and Insights Home Page (Document ID: 2205540.2) on My Oracle Support for more information. This page provides information concerning configuration of the OpenSearch environment. See the PeopleSoft Search Framework information in the product documentation for PeopleTools: PeopleSoft Search Technology for your new release for details about configuring PeopleSoft Search.
