Using Deploy-only Mode on Linux

Use deploy-only mode to extract the components from the OSK DPK to the specified directory without integrating with the PeopleSoft system. The deployment does not require a running PeopleTools mid-tier.

To use deploy-only mode:

  1. Download the required OSK DPK for Linux, referred to as OSK_FILENAME.zip, and save it in a newly created directory accessible to the Linux host, referred to as OSK_INSTALL.

  2. In a terminal windows, change directory to OSK_INSTALL.

    cd OSK_INSTALL

  3. Extract the entire contents of OSK_FILENAME.zip in the same directory, OSK_INSTALL.

    unzip OSK_FILENAME.zip

    Note:

It is a good idea to extract into the same directory where you downloaded the zip files, and to extract into an empty directory for each new installation.

The extraction creates the following directories and files in OSK_INSTALL:

    • setup directory — includes the setup scripts and a silent installation sample

    • archives directory — includes archives for deployment

    • readme.txt file

    • opensearch–manifest — lists the versions of OpenSearch and JDK

  4. Run the DPK setup script from OSK_INSTALL/setup as follows:

    ./psft-dpk-setup.sh –-deploy SELECT_COMP--deploy_base_dir BASE_DIR

    • Specify the search component that you want to deploy for the SELECT_COMP option.
Command Option Component Deployed Sample Command
      -all

      All the OSK DPK components

      ./psft-dpk-setup.sh --deploy -all --deploy_base_dir /home/opensearch
      -os

      OpenSearch

      ./psft-dpk-setup.sh --deploy -os --deploy_base_dir /home/opensearch
      -osd

      OpenSearch Dashboards

      ./psft-dpk-setup.sh --deploy -osd --deploy_base_dir /home/opensearch
      -ls

      Logstash

      ./psft-dpk-setup.sh --deploy -ls --deploy_base_dir /home/opensearch
      -dp

      Data-prepper

      ./psft-dpk-setup.sh --deploy -dp --deploy_base_dir /home/opensearch
      -fb

      Fluent-bit

      ./psft-dpk-setup.sh --deploy -fb --deploy_base_dir /home/opensearch
    • For the deploy_base_dir option, specify the full path where you want the components deployed.

    • Use double-dashes when specifying the script options; for example, --deploy. Use a single dash to specify the component to be deployed; for example, -all.

  5. Review the status messages as the script deploys the selected components.

    Starting Deploy-Only Mode [OK]
    JDK is deployed .............................[OK]
    OpenSearch is deployed.......................[OK]
    OpenSearch Dashboards is deployed............[OK]
    Logstash is deployed.........................[OK]

After deployment, use silent mode installation to start OpenSearch.
