Understanding General Options

The following table presents the delivered general options. Users see the options allowed by permission lists.

ACCESS (Accessibility Layout)	Specify accessibility features. This option provides better support for assistive technologies. Select from the following values: Screen reader mode on — For use with screen readers. Page elements (fields, links, buttons, and so on) are presented in linear fashion to assistive software. CUSTOMPGSET (Customize Page Settings)	Indicate that the Customize Page pagebar link should appear at the top of pages at runtime. Users can use this control to define, share, and copy page personalizations. Warning! When this option is disabled, all existing page personalizations for the user are deleted. Grid personalizations aren't affected. Note: You can prevent the Customize Page pagebar link from appearing in a given component, regardless of whether users have access to this option, by clearing the Customize Page Link check box in the Internet properties of the component definition. MAXMRU (Maximum in Recently Visited)	Specify the maximum number of entries shown under Recently Visited. You see these entries when you select the Recently Visited option on the NavBar or on the quick access bar on fluid homepages. The maximum number of entries that you can specify is 30. METAXP (Time page held in cache)	Enable browser caching for the navigation pages that remain relatively static. This option specifies the time, in minutes, that portal homepage and navigation pages are held in the cache. You can specify a value between 0 (no caching) and 525600 minutes (one year).	900
MLTLNG (Multi Language Entry)	Enable data entry in multiple languages. On a page where the Data Language drop-down list box is available, users can select a preferred language for data entry on that page. When this option is disabled, the Data Language drop-down list box has no effect.	No
PRMPTAUTOCOL	Specify whether the Search Criteria section on a fluid prompt (lookup) page appears collapsed. When this is set to Yes, the Search Criteria section is collapsed when the prompt page is initially accessed and after a search is performed. When this is set to No, the Search Criteria section is expanded when the prompt page is initially accessed and after a search is performed. Note: This setting is ignored in screen-reader mode, even though it is available to end users in the My Preferences page. See Applications User’s Guide: Working with Fluid Lookup Pages.	Yes
PRMPTSHOWOPS	Specify whether the search operators within the search criteria are displayed as drop-down lists with changeable values by default (when this is set to Yes) or whether the search operators are displayed as read-only text with the default operator for each field displayed (when set to No). As in previous releases, the mode of the search operators (changeable or read-only) can be changed with the Show/Hide Operators button. Note: This setting is ignored in screen-reader mode, even though it is available to end users in the My Preferences page. See Applications User’s Guide: Working with Fluid Lookup Pages.	No
PTUSEMON	Specify whether managed objects (MO) or application data sets (ADS) will be monitored by Usage Monitor. After specifying an option and saving the page, the selection will take affect on all server processes in the PeopleSoft system without shutting down and restarting the processes. Select one of these options for Usage Monitor: MO&ADS Usage Mon OFF Usage Monitoring is disabled and MO and ADS objects are not monitored. MO&ADS Usage Mon ON Usage Monitoring is enabled and both MO and ADS objects in use are monitored. MO Usage Mon ON Usage monitoring is enabled and only MO objects in use are monitored. PTUSEMONMOCL	Usage Monitor Commit Limit Set this value to control the frequency of commits during database writes. This refers to the number of data rows included in a processing group. It determines how frequently a commit is issued during INSERT or UPDATE operations on the PSPTUMPMTAGR table. For example, if it is set to 2500 and there are 10,000 rows to process, the system will process them in chunks of 2,500, resulting in 4 separate commits. After specifying a value and saving the page, the selections take effect on all server processes in the PeopleSoft system without shutting down and restarting the processes.
