About Oracle Base Database Cloud@Customer
Oracle Base Database Cloud@Customer offers Oracle AI Database Enterprise Edition and Standard Edition with powerful cloud automation for database lifecycle management. It combines Oracle AI Database with Oracle-managed infrastructure, delivering the simplicity, security, and economics of a cloud deployment model at customer locations. It runs Oracle Base Database service on Oracle Data Infrastructure Cloud@Customer to support data residency requirements while allowing flexible consumption-based database licensing. Oracle owns, operates, and maintains the infrastructure, while customers manage their database environments through the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Console and APIs, using the same cloud operating model available in OCI.
Designed for Oracle AI Database deployments that must remain at customer locations, Oracle Base Database Cloud@Customer helps organizations meet regulatory, compliance, security, and latency requirements while reducing operational complexity. It serves as the foundation for Oracle AI Database and application workloads, enabling complete database and application environments to run on the same Oracle-managed infrastructure. Small and medium-sized businesses, departmental deployments, and remote sites benefit from the data residency and compliance of running Oracle databases on a hybrid cloud at customer locations.
The infrastructure supports two virtual machine (VM) types:
-
Base Database Virtual Machines
-
Application Virtual Machines
Base Database Virtual Machines
Base Database VMs allow customers to have full root access and full database administrator (DBA) privileges for the databases they provision. The deployment and management of database resources is done through cloud automation. Online ECPU scaling for Base Database VMs aligns compute resources with workload requirements and provides pay-per-use database licensing. Customers can deploy single-instance databases on a single VM or clustered databases using Oracle RAC across two VMs.
Application Virtual Machines
Application VMs allow customers to deploy applications alongside Oracle AI Database on Oracle Data Infrastructure Cloud@Customer. Application VMs on the same infrastructure keep applications close to enterprise data, reduce the infrastructure footprint, improve hardware utilization, and deliver a consistent cloud operating model across database and application environments. Together, Base Database and Application VMs enable customers to rapidly build, test, and deploy AI-powered applications, agents, and workflows. Customers are responsible for managing Application VMs.
