Terminate a Database

This topic provides the details and procedure to terminate a database.

Before you begin, review the following:

• When you terminate a database, all associated data files and automatic incremental backups are permanently deleted. On-demand full backups, including a final backup if one was created, remain available as standalone backups.

• After termination, the database cannot be recovered.

• If the database is in the primary Data Guard role, you must switch it to the standby role before terminating the database.

• You can now terminate a CDB while a Data Guard configuration operation is running on another database in the same Oracle home, and vice versa.

• You can also create or delete a CDB while concurrently performing Data Guard operations, such as switchover, failover, or reinstate, within the same Oracle home, and vice versa.

Procedure

Perform the following steps in the Console.

1. On the Data Infrastructures list page, select the Data Infrastructure that you want to work with. If you need help finding the list page or the Data Infrastructure, see List Data Infrastructures.

2. On the Data Infrastructure details page, select the VM Cluster tab to view the list of all VM Clusters.
3. On the VM Clusters tab, select the VM Cluster that you want to work with.

4. On the VM Cluster details page, select the Databases tab to view the list of all databases.

5. On the Databases tab, select the Database that you want to work with.

6. On the Database details page, from the Actions menu, select Terminate.

7. In the Terminate Database panel, enter the database name and select Terminate to confirm.
