Terminate a Data Guard Group
This topic describes how to terminate a Data Guard Group.
Before you begin, review the following:
-
You can terminate a Data Guard Group by terminating all of its standby databases.
-
Terminate the standby database before terminating the primary database. When you terminate the standby database, the associated Data Guard Group is automatically removed.
-
If you attempt to terminate the primary database while a standby database is still associated with it, the terminate operation does not complete.
-
Alternatively, you can perform a switchover to transition the standby database to the primary role and then terminate the former primary database.
