Procedure

Perform the following steps in the Console.

  1. On the Software Images list page, select Create Software Image.

  2. In the Create Software Image panel, provide the following details.

    • Image type: select Database Grid Infrastructure Software Image.

    • Display name: The display name is a user-friendly name that you can use to identify the resource. The name doesn’t need to be unique, because an Oracle Cloud Identifier (OCID) uniquely identifies the resource.

    • Compartment: From the list of available compartments, select the compartment that you want to contain this resource. By default, the current compartment is selected.

    • Configure the Grid Infrastructure Software Image

      • Grid Infrastructure release: Select a Grid Infrastructure release from the given list.

      • Grid Infrastructure version (release update): Select a Grid Infrastructure version from the given list. You can create a Software Image using any supported release update (RU).

      • Enter one-off patch numbers: (Optional) Provide a comma-separated list of one-off update numbers.

      • Upload an Oracle Home inventory: (Optional) Upload an Oracle home inventory file from an existing VM Cluster.

Oracle home inventory contains a list of updates installed in a Grid Infrastructure or database home. To ensure that a new Software Image contains, at a minimum, all updates installed in an existing home, you can upload a file containing the output of the “opatch lsinventory” command run in the existing home.

    • Advanced Options: Expand to provide additional details.

      • Tags: Expand to provide additional details. You can add free-form tags or defined tags to this resource. You must have permission to use the tag namespace for defined tags. For more information about using tags to manage your resources, see Tags. Tags can be applied later or at any time to a resource.
  3. Select Create.

The Software Images list page displays the newly created Software Image.
