Scale a VM Cluster

This topic provides the details and procedure to scale a VM Cluster.

Before you begin, review the following:

• You can scale up or down the ECPUs, memory, data storage, Recovery Area storage, and local file system size (/u01).
• You can scale multiple resources at the same time or scale individual resources separately.
• When you scale the memory or local file system size, the associated compute nodes restart in a rolling manner, one compute node at a time, to minimize the impact on the VM Cluster.
• Billing continues while a VM Cluster is stopped. To stop compute billing, reduce the ECPU allocation to zero.

Procedure

Perform the following steps in the Console.

1. On the Data Infrastructures list page, select the Data Infrastructure that you want to work with. If you need help finding the list page or the Data Infrastructure, see List Data Infrastructures.

2. On the Data Infrastructure details page, select the VM Clusters tab to view the list of all VM Clusters.

3. On the VM Clusters tab, select the VM Cluster that you want to work with.

4. On the VM Cluster details page, select Scale VM Resources.

5. In the Scale VM Cluster panel, provide the following details.

   • VM count: Displays the number of VMs in the VM Cluster.

   • ECPUs: Enter the number of ECPUs for each VM. Minimum of 8 and maximum of 40 ECPUs per VM.

   • Total ECPUs across VM Cluster: Review the total number of ECPUs allocated across all VMs in the VM Cluster.

   • Memory per VM (GB): Enter the memory allocation for each VM. Minimum of 16 GB per VM and maximum based on the available allocation.

   • Requested memory for the VM cluster (GB): Review the total requested memory across the VM Cluster.

   • Data Storage (GB): Enter the data storage allocation. Minimum of 256 GB and maximum based on the available allocation.

   • Recovery Area Storage (GB): Enter the Recovery Area storage allocation. Minimum of 64 GB and maximum based on the available allocation.

   • /u01 (GB): Enter the local file system size. Minimum of 100 GB and maximum based on the available allocation.

6. Select Update.
