Suspending and Resuming an Exadata Cloud at Customer Instance

On Exadata Cloud at Customer instances that use Exadata X7 Infrastructure, you can suspend and later resume the service instance. When you suspend an Exadata Cloud at Customer instance, the associated compute nodes are shut down and the service does not consume any compute node CPU cores.

This facility is only available on Exadata Cloud at Customer instances that use Exadata X7 Infrastructure where the Exadata infrastructure is billed separately from the database server OCPUs.

To suspend or resume an Exadata Cloud at Customer instance:

  1. Open the My Services dashboard.

  2. Click the action menu (Menu icon) in the tile that is associated with Exadata Cloud at Customer and then choose View Details.

    The Service Details page is displayed, with the Overview tab showing.

  3. Locate your service instance in the list. Click the action menu (Menu icon) located beside the service instance name and choose Modify.

    The Modify Oracle Database Exadata Cloud Service Instance wizard starts and the Instance Details page is displayed.

  4. On the Instance Details page, set the option to suspend or resume the service instance. Then, click Modify.

    The current status of the service instance is displayed on the Instance Details page.

    If the service instance is Active, then you can suspend the service instance by checking the Suspend Service checkbox.

    If the service instance is Suspended, then you can resume the service instance by unchecking the Suspend Service checkbox.

  5. On the Confirmation page, review the configuration settings. If you are satisfied, click Modify.

    You can click Cancel to cancel out of the wizard without suspending or reactivating the service instance.
