Upload and Analyze Files with Ask Oracle

Use file uploads in Ask Oracle to search, summarize, and ask questions about documents that you upload in Oracle AI Success Navigator.

After you upload a document, you can use Ask Oracle to:
  • Search and ask questions about document content. Ask Oracle can answer questions, summarize sections, and extract relevant information from uploaded documents. This is useful when you want Ask Oracle to work with organization-specific content, such as custom policies.
  • Get personalized assistance. Ask Oracle can use uploaded documents to provide responses based on your organization's processes, configurations, and documentation instead of relying only on generic Oracle content.
  • Find information in documents. Ask Ask Oracle to locate specific sections, tables, or details in an uploaded document instead of manually searching through lengthy files.
  • Keep document access private. Uploaded documents are available only within the Ask Oracle conversation where they were uploaded.

Uploaded documents are stored securely in OpenSearch in the US East (Ashburn) region.

Note:

Do not upload documents that contain sensitive or confidential information, including personally identifiable information (PII).

Upload a File to Ask Oracle

Ask Oracle supports the file types listed in the Supported file types section.

For best results, upload files that are 20 MB or smaller.

You can upload one file at a time. You can upload multiple files during a conversation.

Uploaded documents cannot be edited after upload. To update a document, upload a revised version.

Analyze a File in Ask Oracle

After you upload a document, ask Ask Oracle questions about its content.

Examples:
  • Summarize this document.
  • What are the key recommendations in this document?
  • Find information about data retention.
  • What are the main requirements described in this document?
  • Show me the section that discusses implementation timelines.
  • What changes were introduced in this version of the document?

Ask Oracle can search uploaded documents, summarize content, and identify relevant information based on your questions.

Manage Files in Ask Oracle

To delete an uploaded document, delete the conversation that contains the document.

Supported File Types

Ask Oracle supports the following file types:
  • DOCX
  • DOC
  • MSG
  • PDF
  • CSV
  • TSV
  • XLS
  • XLSX
  • TXT
  • HTML
  • XML
  • PPT
  • PNG

Note:

Ask Oracle supports only the file types listed above. PPTX, MP3, and MP4 files are not supported.

Ask Oracle File Upload Limitations

Files uploaded to Ask Oracle do not:
  • Save the file to Oracle's global documentation.
  • Make the file publicly available.
  • Automatically share the file or its content with other people in your organization.
  • Edit the file or manage document versions.
  • Upload the file to My Documents in Success Navigator.
