Configuration
What access do I need to run the Configuration Assessment?
The user starting the configuration assessment process needs to be an Administrator in order to download the script package and share it with the Fusion BI Analytics user. The user running the extraction in Fusion needs the Employee, Application Implementation Consultant, and BI Administrator roles. Before getting started, please confirm that all required roles and permissions are in place.
Who can view the Configuration Assessment results?
All team members can view the configuration assessment dashboard. Administrators can also download scripts, upload extracts, and start an assessment.
Do I need separate scripts for different products?
Yes. You will need to run the required HCM, ERP/Financials, and SCM reports for the products in your scope. Then place the encrypted output files together in one ZIP file for upload.
Do I need to rerun the scripts for each new report?
Yes. Each new report requires a fresh extraction and upload so that it reflects the latest configuration and usage. Running the assessment regularly can help you track changes over time.
Can I run the assessment in more than one environment?
You can run separate assessments for separate environments. Please make sure each package contains reports from only one environment. A combined comparison is not currently available, and the documented process is designed for a refreshed non-production environment.
Can I run the assessment for GovCloud?
Yes, provided the GovCloud customer agrees to run the assessment and upload the extracts. The assessment itself is not hosted in GovCloud. It does not review customer data, record counts, or sensitive information.
Can the assessment be automated?
The current workflow is manual. It involves downloading the package, running the pillar-specific reports, encrypting and packaging the files, and then uploading them to Success Navigator. Direct Fusion connectivity and secure orchestration are planned enhancements.
How can I compare two assessments?
A built-in side-by-side comparison is not currently available. You can run assessments at different points in time and compare the downloadable process and configuration-level outputs, focusing on movement among “Configured and Used,” “Configured but Not Used,” and “Not Configured and Not Used.”
How is this different from Adoption data?
Adoption data focuses on usage, while Configuration Assessment combines setup and usage at the Level 3 business-process level. This additional context can help explain why adoption gaps may exist.
Why should I run the HCM script if I do not use HCM?
HCM includes shared settings that may support other processes. For example, employee setup belongs to HCM but may also support procurement approval hierarchies. For this reason, we recommend running the HCM script even when HCM is not actively used.
Why can’t I see every configured Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 process?
The assessment does not yet cover every process. It displays the processes included in the current metadata through Level 3. Please refer to the User Guide for current coverage details.
Does the assessment include all products and modules?
The assessment does not currently include every product and module. It covers HCM, Financials, and Supply Chain Management through Level 3. More process will be added in future for assessment.
How do I know which items are included in my subscription?
Please use your purchased Fusion SKU or bill of materials as the official source. The assessment does not yet provide a complete subscription lookup. A more detailed view of subscriptions, services, and users is planned.
Can I hide items that are not in my subscription?
This option is not currently available. A planned enhancement is expected to add filters based on purchased capabilities. In the meantime, showing these items may help reveal additional opportunities, while hiding them could make an entitlement review simpler.
Why are many items marked “Configured but Not Used”? Does this mean I am subscribed to them?
This status means that at least one configuration setting is enabled, but no qualifying usage was found. It does not necessarily mean that you are subscribed. A shared setup item may cause a product or module to appear configured even when it is not actively used. To better understand the status, consider reviewing entitlement, process fit, data, security, integrations, training, and change management.
Can Ask Oracle interpret my assessment results?
Ask Oracle will be able to respond to specific questions that are raised, but it will not read the assessment output directly.
Where can I find recommended next steps?
You can use the dashboard drilldowns, the “Not Configured” and “Configured but Not Used” lists, the downloadable report, and Ask Oracle links to Oracle documentation. We also recommend working with your system integrator and internal process experts to set priorities, identify barriers, assign owners, provide training and change support, and rerun the assessment to track progress.
Does the assessment identify inefficient customizations or process issues?
Configuration Assessment reviews configuration levels rather than process efficiency, so it is not intended to be a business process reengineering tool. However, it can still help highlight opportunities to gain more value from the current setup.
