The resources in this category provide a range of capabilities that allow traffic to be further monitored and managed in and out of VCNs.
DNS Service
DNS is used to map a device’s IP address to a human-friendly domain name that is more easily memorable than a set of numbers.
Oracle’s DNS service provides DNS resolution of custom DNS domains within a VCN. Domains can be within OCI, between VCNs, VCN and on-premises, or other private networks. The DNS service also provides DNS resolution across networks (for example, another VCN within the same region, cross-region, or external network.
Email Delivery
Email Delivery is an email sending service that provides a fast and reliable managed solution for sending high-volume emails. Email Delivery offers the tools necessary to send an application-generated email for mission-critical communications such as receipts, fraud detection alerts, multi-factor identity verification, and password resets.
Traffic Management
Traffic Management is a critical component of DNS. Traffic Management enables the configuration of policies to serve intelligent responses to DNS queries. Different endpoints may be served for the query depending on the logic the customer defines in the policy. Traffic Management can account for the health of answers to provide failover capabilities, provide the ability to load balance traffic across multiple resources, and account for the location where the query was initiated to provide a simple, flexible and powerful mechanism to steer DNS traffic efficiently.
Web Application Firewall (WAF)
Web Application Firewall (WAF) is a cloud-based, Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliant, global security service that protects applications from malicious and unwanted internet traffic. WAF can protect any internet-facing endpoint, providing consistent rule enforcement across a customer’s applications.
WAF provides the ability to create and manage rules for internet threats, including; Cross-Site Scripting (XSS), SQL Injection and other OWASP-defined vulnerabilities. Unwanted bots can be mitigated while tactically allowing desirable bots to enter. Access rules can limit based on geography or the signature of the request.
Health Checks
The Health Checks service provides users with high-frequency external monitoring to determine the availability and performance of any publicly facing service, including hosted websites, API endpoints, or externally facing load balancers. By using Health Checks, users can ensure that they are immediately aware of any availability issue affecting their customers.
