6 Manage Automatic DR Configuration

Full Stack Disaster Recovery enables users to automate the execution of Disaster Recovery (DR) plans by creating an Automatic DR Configuration. The supported plan types are Switchover DR Plans and Failover DR Plans.

With Automatic DR, you can configure your DR Protection Groups (DRPGs) to automatically execute DR plans for selected database members. Using this feature, you can:
  • Create an Automatic DR Configuration on the standby DRPG.
  • Add the database members of the DRPG for which you want to automatically trigger DR plan execution.
  • Specify the triggering events (switchover, failover, or both) for each database member to enable automatic DR plan execution.

Note:

You must specify both the DR plan and the triggering operation when enabling automatic DR execution. You can configure automatic DR execution for either switchover, or failover, or both.

Note:

You can create only one Automatic DR Configuration resource per DRPG.

Resource Principal Authentication for Automatic DR Plan Execution

  • The Full Stack Disaster Recovery service automatically runs DR plans based on your Automatic DR configuration, without any user action.
  • Therefore, it uses Resource Principal (RP) authentication instead of user credentials. With RP authentication, the service securely performs DR operations on your behalf using the permissions granted by your IAM policies.
  • To enable automatic DR Plan Execution, you must define the appropriate resource principal policies that authorize the Full Stack Disaster Recovery service to perform DR operations in your tenancy.
  • For details on how to create and configure these policies, see the Resource Principals topic.
