Full Stack Disaster Recovery Terminology And Concepts

Before using Full Stack DR, understanding key terms is essential. Disaster Recovery (DR) refers to restoring business systems after an outage, with Recovery Point Objective (RPO) defining maximum data loss tolerance, and Recovery Time Objective (RTO) specifying the maximum downtime. Full Stack refers to all functional layers of an application. Primary and Standby roles indicate production and reserved versions, respectively. Warm and Cold Standby models balance operating costs and RTO. Resources are independently manageable OCI components, including DR Protection Groups, DR Plans, and DR Plan Executions. Associations define relationships between DR Protection Groups, while Plan Groups and Steps structure DR Plans. Prechecks validate DR Plan compliance, and Switchover and Failover plans perform planned and unplanned transitions, respectively. DR Drills test DR processes, and dependency mapping ensures correct system restoration order.
