View Summary Logs for Disaster Recovery Plan Executions

View the AI-generated summaries for failed or warning Disaster Recovery (DR) plan execution steps to quickly understand errors and recommended actions.

OCI Full Stack Disaster Recovery now provides a View Summary option for eligible Disaster Recovery plan execution steps. This feature uses OCI Generative AI service to generate a concise, plain-language summary of selected step execution logs, helping you quickly understand failures or warnings during switchovers, failovers, or DR drills.

The View Summary option is available for built-in Full Stack DR plan steps, including built-in precheck steps, when the step ends in one of these states:

• Failed
• Failed ignored
• Succeeded with warning

Full Stack DR leverages the OCI Generative AI service to summarize logs. The summary consists of the following details:

• Problem: Explains what the step attempted and what caused the failure or warning.
• Solution: Provides suggested investigation steps and corrective actions.
• Reference IDs: Lists key identifiers from the log, such as OCIDs, tenancy name, bucket name, and work request ID.

Note:

This feature is applicable for only for built-in or built-in precheck steps. Currently, user-defined plan group steps are not supported.

Before using this feature, configure IAM policies that allow the Full Stack DR dynamic group to access the OCI Generative AI service. See Policies for Generative AI.

1. Confirm that your tenancy region supports OCI Generative AI service or has a supported cross-region calling route.
2. Navigate to the Resource page for the DR plan execution as described in Monitor Progress of Disaster Recovery Plan Executions .
   The list of all plan execution groups in the DR plan execution or precheck is displayed.
3. Click the > symbol to open the DR plan execution that contains a step in the Failed, Failed ignored, or Succeeded with warning state.
4. Expand the plan group to display the steps in that group.
5. Click the three-dots Action menu to the right and select View summary from the menu for any of the following states:
   • Failed
   • Failed ignored
   • Succeeded with warning
6. The View summary page displays the summary of the logs with the following details:
   • Problem
   • Solution
   • Reference IDs
   If a step log has already been summarized, then selecting View Summary again will display the previously generated summary.

   Note:

   AI-generated summaries are intended to accelerate troubleshooting, not replace log review. Consider each summary as an investigation aid and verify the suggested actions against the actual execution log before making changes. AI can make mistakes, so check the summary for accuracy.

7. Review the generated summary in the OCI Console.
8. Validate the recommendations against the full execution log before taking corrective action.

The View Summary is available in the OCI public cloud regions only. It is not available in government, sovereign, or dedicated cloud regions. If OCI Generative AI service is not directly available in your tenancy region, Full Stack DR can use cross-region calling when a supported route exists.

Using View Summary triggers an OCI Generative AI service inference request in your tenancy. Standard OCI Generative AI pricing applies. OCI Full Stack DR does not apply additional charges for this feature.

The billing for this feature is according to the pricing model of the OCI Generative AI Service. The OCI Generative AI service is available in the regions listed here.
