Add Data Labels to a Map Visualization

You can include data labels on a map visualization to describe individual data points.

Data labels in maps make the maps clear and informative. They help to highlight specific data points or regions of interest so consumers can quickly interpret the visual information presented in the maps.

Use the Data Labels Position property to configure the labels:

• Off: Hides data labels.

• Above, Below, Left, Right, Center: Displays labels in the selected position.

• Columns: Specifies the columns to display labels for. If you select more than one column, use the Multi Line property to show the second label in a new line.

• Allow Overlap: Allows label text to overlap.

• Font: Specifies the font formatting used for the labels.

• Halo: Adds an outline effect to label text. Use Custom to specify the halo color.

The Data Label Position property isn’t available for heatmap or cluster layer types.

1. On your home page, hover over a workbook, click Actions, and select Open.
2. Click the map visualization to select it.
3. Click Properties, then click Layers .
4. Expand a map layer.
5. In the Data Labels Position row, click Off and select a position.
6. Configure the data label options.
7. Click Save.
