Explore Contextual Insights for a Visualization

Use Contextual Insights to compare specific data selections with the rest of the data in a visualization.

  1. On the Home page, hover over a workbook, click Actions, then select Open.
  2. Click one or more data points in a visualization to select them, then right-click and click Explain Selected.

  3. In the dialog, browse through the insights.

  4. Like or reject the insights generated for you.
    1. Hover over a visualization in the dialog.
    2. Click Like Insight Like Insight icon to keep the insight.
    3. Click Dismiss Insight Dismiss Insight icon to remove the insight.
      After you dismiss an insight, Contextual Insights shows you the next available insight.
      If you invoke Contextual insights on the same data point, you won't see insights that you previously dismissed.
  5. Select a different data point in the visualization and generate new insights.
    1. With the dialog open, select a different data point in the visualization on the canvas.
    2. Click the Refresh icon Refresh insights to get insights for the new data point that you selected.
  6. Apply filters and refresh the insights.
    1. With the dialog open, add a filter to the canvas or visualization.
    2. Click the Refresh icon Refresh insights to get insights that take the filters into account.
