Manage a Subject Area's Permissions

You can assign shared objects access permissions to users and application roles for a subject area to specify who can access it and what they can do with the shared objects associated with it.

You need Full Control access for the subject area to manage its permissions. Administrators have Full Control access by default.

The following permissions are available in the Access tab of the Inspect dialog for a subject area:
  • Full Control: Gives users Write access and lets them manage shared objects access permissions for the subject area. Users can add, modify, or delete shared objects access permissions.
  • Write: Lets users create, edit, and delete shared objects associated with the subject area, such as shared filter groups or shared calculations.
  1. On your home page, click inside the search bar and select Subject Area.
  2. Find the subject area that you want to add permissions to or update permissions for, click Actions, and then click Inspect.
  3. Click the Access tab.
  4. To add users and roles:
    • In the Add search bar, type a username or an application role and select the name from the drop down.
    • In the table, locate the row for the user or role you added and select the permission you want to assign to them.
  5. To modify permissions, locate the row in the table and select or de-select the permissions as required.
  6. To remove users and roles, hover over the row in the table and click Delete.
  7. Click Save, then click Close.
