Specify Limit Values for Workbook and Canvas Filters

Configure the Limit Values setting for individual workbook filters and canvas filters in the filter bar to specify how the filter gets its selection values.

The options for this Limit Values setting are:

  • Default - For a workbook (pinned) or canvas (unpinned) filter, uses the Limit Values By setting from the Filter Bar Menu.

  • Auto – Limits the filter's values by the other filters in the filter bar, based on drill path and regardless of scope.
  • None – Prevents all other filters in the filter bar from limiting the filter's values.
  • Custom – Lets you choose which filters from the filter bar you want to limit the filter's values by. For a workbook filter, only other workbook filters are available to choose from. It isn't possible to limit a workbook filter by a specific canvas filter because other canvases in the workbook may not use that canvas filter.

  1. On your home page, hover over a workbook, click Actions, then select Open.
  2. Click the filter to open the Filter dialog.
  3. Click Limit Values Limit Values icon and click an option to select it.
  4. Click Save.
