Before You Begin

This tutorial shows you how to change the default setting for the Limit Values By for Filters property used in Oracle Analytics.

Background

The Default Limit Values By for Filters property specifies:

  • The automatic behavior of the instance's Limit Values By filter option.
  • The behavior for all workbooks created on the instance.

    A content author can override the Default Limit Values By for Filters property setting using filter options in a workbook.

The Default Limit Values By for Filters property has two settings, Auto and None. Auto enables the Limit Values By functionality as the default behavior. When set to Auto, filters using the Auto behavior can assist in improving user experience. When the set to None, filters aren't limited by the behavior of other filters which can improve performance.

Change the Default Behavior of Limit Values By for Filters Property

In this section, you change the default behavior of the Default Limit Values By for Filters property.

  1. Sign in to Oracle Analytics as an administrator.
  2. On the Home page, click Navigator Navigator icon, and then click Console Console icon.
  3. In the Console, click Advanced System Settings.
  4. In Advanced System Settings, click Performance and Compatibility.
  5. In Search, enter Default Limit and select Default Limit Values By for Filters.
  6. Click Auto and select None in Default Limit Values by for Filters to enable the limit by.

    Oracle Analytics displays the message, Property updated when you change the setting.
