Before you Begin
In this 10-minute tutorial, you import a workbook created and exported by another user, and then export the workbook using two different approaches.
Background
The workbook that you import in this tutorial includes everything that you need in the workbook such as the associated data sets, connection string, connection credentials, and stored data. You also export the workbook.
Workbooks are exported as .dva
files.
What Do You Need?
- Access to Oracle Analytics Cloud
- Download the workbook, revenue_insights.dva to your computer
Import a Workbook
- Sign in to Oracle Analytics.
- On the Home page, click Page Menu
and select Import Workbook/Flow.
- In Import Workbook/Flow, click Select File.
- In File Upload, locate and select the
revenue_insights.dva
file. Click Import. - When the message, Import successful appears, click OK.
You can open the workbook to view the contents or make changes.
Export a Workbook
Supply a password to protect the workbook when you want to limit the workbook's access. You must share the password with authorized users to enable opening the file.
- On the Home page, click Workbooks and Reports. Enter
revenue_insights
in the search bar, and then press Enter. - Select the workbook, click the Actions
, and then select Export.
- In Export, enter a Name or use the workbook name.
- Select Include Data and select Include Connection Credentials.
- Select Include Permissions. In Protect Password, enter the Optional Password and the Confirm Password, and then click Save.
- In File Name, enter a Name for the workbook file, select a location for the file, and then click Save.
Export From Within an Open Workbook
In this section, you open a workbook and the export the workbook file without including the connection details and a password.
If you don't include connection credentials, the importer needs to enter the connection credentials to open the workbook file.
- On the Home page, hover over the revenue_insights workbook, click Actions
, and then select Open.
- In the Presentation page, click Edit
.
- Click Export
. In Export, select File.
- In File, enter a Name for the workbook file or use the workbook name.
- In Format, select Package (.dva)
- Click Save.
- Select a location for the file, and then click Save.
