Before You Begin
This tutorial shows you how to configure a dataset and use Oracle Analytics AI Assistant.
When the dataset's Inspect Search tab shows the Assistant and Homepage option in the Index Dataset For list, the Oracle Analytics AI Assistant is available in your instance.
If you don't see the Assistant option, you might not have the required Use Assistant in Workbooks permission. Contact your administrator to request the permission.
Background
After configuring the dataset, you can use Oracle Analytics AI Assistant to enter questions in an Oracle Analytics workbook and get visualizations as answers. In the Assistant, you can only ask questions about the dataset. The Assistant generates one or more visualizations and could provide additional insights related to the dataset.
What Do You Need?
- Access to Oracle Analytics
- Download sample_order_lines2023.xlsx to your computer
Create a Dataset
In this section, you create a dataset and configure it for use with Oracle Analytics AI Assistant.
- Sign in to Oracle Analytics.
- On the Home page, click Create, and then click Dataset.
- In Create Dataset, click Drop data file here or click to browse, select the sample_order_lines2023.xlsx file, and then click Open.
- In Create Dataset Table from sample_order_lines2023.xlsx, click OK. Click Save

- In Save Dataset As, enter
sample_order_lines2023

Configure the Dataset
In this section, you specify the settings to enable natural language queries with the dataset.
- On the Home page, hover over the sample_order_lines2023 dataset, click Actions
, and then select Inspect.
- In the sample_order_lines2023 dataset Inspect page, click Search.
- Click the Index Dataset For list, select Assistant and Homepage.

- In the message, Dataset index successfully initiated, click OK. Click Close.
Create a Workbook
In this section, you verify the dataset indexing and enter a couple of questions in the Assistant. If this is the first time that you have indexed the dataset to use with the Assistant, it's possible that indexing is still in-progress. The Assistant question text box displays when the dataset indexing completes.
- On the Home page, double-click the sample_order_lines2023 dataset to create a workbook.
- Click Assistant next to the Auto Insights panel.
- Click Check Status if this is the first time indexing the dataset.

and press ENTER. - Click Additional Insights
to see other insights the Assistant found.

to include the visualization in the workbook.
Modify the Question
In this section, you learn how to add to or change the original question and change the chart type. You can use incomplete sentences.
- Click Add
