This 5-minute tutorial shows you how to schedule a job in Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher to deliver a report by email.

Background

You can schedule reports to run at selected intervals to various destinations.

In this tutorial, schedule a job to email the Order Summary report in the PDF format in a .zip file, and request email delivery notification.

What Do You Need?

  • Access to Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher in Oracle Analytics Cloud as a BI Content Author or a BI Consumer
  • The Order Summary report created under My Folders in Catalog

section 1Schedule a Job to Email a Report

In this section, schedule a job to email the Order Summary report to a customer.

  1. Sign in to Oracle Analytics Cloud.
  2. On the Home page, click Page Menu Page menu icon, select Open Classic Home, click New, and then select Report Job.
  3. In the General tab of the Schedule Report Job page, click Choose icon next to the Report field, and then select the Order Summary report from My Folders.
  4. In the Output tab, select:
    • Save Data for Republishing
    • Compress output prior to delivery
  5. In the Output section, enter the following:
    • Name: ConfirmOrder
    • Layout: Order Summary
    • Format: PDF
    • Locale: English (United States)
    • Timezone: [GMT-08:00] Pacific Time (US & Canada)
    • Calendar: Gregorian
  6. In the Destination section, select Email from the Destination Type list, click Add Destination, select Request Delivery Status Notification and Request Read Receipt, and then specify the following:
    • To: Enter the email ID where the report must be delivered.
    • Subject: Check and confirm orders
    • Message: Enter the following text:
        Hi,                                
      Please review the attached summary of your orders and confirm.                                 
      Thanks,                                
      Sales Manager
  7. In the Schedule tab, select Run Now.
  8. In the Notification tab, select Notify By, enter you email address in the Email Address field, and then select:
    • Report completed
    • Report completed with warnings
    • Report failed
    • Report skipped
  9. Click Submit, enter EmailOrderSummary in the Report Job Name field, then click OK.

section 2 Verify Report Delivery

In this section, verify if the report is delivered by email.

  1. On the Classic Home page, click Catalog, locate the Order Summary report in My Folders, click More, and then click History History icon.
  2. On the Report Job History page, check the status of the EmailOrderSummary report job.
  3. Check your email, and then view the report delivery notification message.
