Enable or Disable Auto Scaling of an Autonomous Transaction Processing Dedicated Database

Auto scaling enables a dedicated database to use up to three times more CPU and IO resources than its specified OCPU count. When auto scaling is enabled, if your workload requires additional CPU and IO resources the database automatically uses the resources without any manual intervention required.

  1. Go to the Details page of the Autonomous Transaction Processing dedicated database for which you want to enable or disable auto scaling.

    Note:

    For dedicated databases that use Autonomous Data Guard, go to the Details page of the primary database.

    For instructions, see View Details of an Autonomous Transaction Processing Dedicated Database.

  2. On the Details page, select Scale Up/Down.
  3. On the Scale Up/Down page, enable or disable Auto Scaling.
  4. Click Update to save your change.

Tip:

You can view the number of OCPUs the database is currently using by entering this SQL command:

SELECT AVG_RUNNING_SESSIONS/2 FROM V$RSRCPDBMETRIC;
