4 Managing Autonomous Transaction Processing Databases

This section describes management operations you can perform on dedicated Autonomous Transaction Processing databases.

Start Autonomous Transaction Processing

Describes the steps to start an Autonomous Transaction Processing instance.

  1. Sign in to your Oracle Cloud Account at cloud.oracle.com.
  2. From the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure left navigation list click Autonomous Transaction Processing.
  3. On the Autonomous Databases page select an Autonomous Transaction Processing instance from the links under the Name column.
  4. On the Details page, from the Actions drop-down list, select Start.

Start is only shown for a stopped instance.

  5. Click Start to confirm.

Note:

When an Autonomous Transaction Processing instance is started, Autonomous Transaction Processing CPU billing is initiated based on full-hour cycles of usage.

Stop Autonomous Transaction Processing

Describes the steps to stop an Autonomous Transaction Processing instance.

  4. On the Details page, from the Actions drop-down list, select Stop.
  5. Click Stop to confirm.

Note:

When an Autonomous Transaction Processing instance is stopped, the following details apply:

  • Tools are no longer able to connect to a stopped instance.

  • Autonomous Transaction Processing in-flight transactions and queries are stopped.

  • Autonomous Transaction Processing CPU billing is halted based on full-hour cycles of usage.

Terminate Autonomous Transaction Processing

Describes the steps to terminate an Autonomous Transaction Processing instance.

Note:

Terminating an Autonomous Transaction Processing database permanently deletes the instance and removes all automatic backups. You cannot recover a terminated database.
  4. On the Details page, from the Actions drop-down list, select Terminate.
  5. On the Terminate Database page enter the database name to confirm that you want to terminate the database.
  6. Click Terminate Database.

Add CPU or Storage Resources

Describes how to scale your Autonomous Transaction Processing on demand by adding CPU cores or storage (TB).

  4. From the Details page click Scale Up/Down.
  5. On the Scale Up/Down prompt, select the change in resources for your scale request.
    • Click up arrow to select a value for CPU Core Count. The default is no change.
    • Click up arrow to select a value for Storage (TB). The default is no change.
  6. Click Update to change your resources.

Remove CPU or Storage Resources

Describes how to scale your Autonomous Transaction Processing on demand by removing CPU cores or storage (TB).

  4. From the Details page click Scale Up/Down.
  5. On the Scale Up/Down page, select the change in resources for your scale request:
    • Click down arrow to select a value for CPU Core Count. The default is no change.
    • Click down arrow to select a value for Storage (TB). The default is no change.
  6. Click Update to change your resources.

Move an Autonomous Transaction Processing Database to a Different Compartment

Shows you the steps to move a dedicated Autonomous Transaction Processing database to a different Oracle Cloud Infrastructure compartment.

Note:

  • To move a dedicated Autonomous Transaction Processing database you must have the right to manage autonomous databases in the database's current compartment and in the compartment you are moving it to.

  • As soon as you move a dedicated Autonomous Transaction Processing database to a different compartment, the policies that govern the new compartment apply immediately and affect access to the database. Therefore, your access to the database may change, depending on the policies governing your Oracle Cloud user account's access to resources.

  1. Sign in to your Oracle Cloud Account at cloud.oracle.com.
  2. From the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure left navigation list click Autonomous Transaction Processing.
  3. Choose your region. See Switching Regions for information on switching regions and working in multiple regions.
  4. Choose your Compartment. See Compartments for information on using and managing compartments.
  5. Select an Autonomous Transaction Processing instance from the list in your compartment.
  6. On the Details page, from the Actions drop-down list, select Move Resource.
  7. In the Move Resource to a Different Compartment page, select the new compartment.
  8. Click Move Resource.
