Enable API Access Control in an Autonomous Container Database

Oracle API Access Control enables customers to manage access to the REST APIs exposed by various database cloud services. By designating specific APIs as privileged, customers can ensure that invoking these APIs requires prior approval from an authorized group within their tenancy.

Oracle API Access Control strengthens the security of OCI database cloud services by adding an extra authorization layer for critical operations. When enabled on an Autonomous Container Database (ACD), it extends protection to its associated Autonomous AI Databases. See Overview of Oracle API Access Control for more details.

Before enabling API Access control on an ACD, you need to create a Privileged API Control using the Oracle Cloud Console. See Create Privileged API Control for details.

Procedure

  1. Go to the Details page of the Autonomous Container Database where you want to enable API Access Control.

    For instructions, see View Details of an Autonomous Container Database.

  2. On the Details page, locate API Access Control under Associated Services.
  3. Click Create. The Create Privileged API Control page opens. Follow the steps in Create Privileged API Control. After the control is created, the API Access Control status changes to Enabled.

After the API Access Control is enabled, you see the Actions menu in the API Access Control section. From the menu, you can choose to create an API request or View the status of API Access Control.
