Update Always Free Instance to Paid with Autonomous AI Database

Describes how to update your instance to paid from free with Autonomous AI Database.

You can update from an Always Free Autonomous AI Database account to a paid account at any time. If you have a free Oracle Cloud Infrastructure account this is a two step process:

First, update to a paid Oracle Cloud Infrastructure account.

Perform the following prerequisite steps as necessary:

• Open the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Console by clicking the next to Cloud.

• From the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure left navigation menu click Oracle AI Database and then click Autonomous AI Database.

• On the Autonomous AI Databases page select an Always Free Autonomous AI Database instance from the links under the Display Name column.

  Note: Promotion of Always Free to a paid Autonomous AI Database is supported when the database version for the Always Free Autonomous AI Database is Oracle Database 19c or Oracle AI Database 26ai.

Update your Always Free Autonomous AI Database instance as follows:

1. On the Details page, from the More actions drop-down list, select Update instance to paid.

2. On the Update Instance page confirm and proceed with the update.

When you update from an Always Free instance to a paid instance you get a paid instance of the same workload type with the minimum CPU and minimum storage available for that workload type. After you update you can scale up CPU and storage resources to fit your needs.

For example:

• Lakehouse workload type: When you update to paid from an Always Free instance, the update process provides a paid Autonomous AI Database instance with workload type Lakehouse, with 4 ECPUs and 1 TB of database storage.

• Transaction Processing workload type: When you update to paid from an Always Free instance, the update process provides a paid Autonomous AI Database instance with workload type Transaction Processing, with 4 ECPUs and 1 TB of database storage.
