Switch to the New Data Guard Group Resource
Use the Data Guard Group resource to manage an existing Data Guard configuration with multiple standby support and Data Guard health status. Switching converts the Data Guard Association resource to a Data Guard Group resource. The switch does not affect the database, DB system, or Data Guard configuration.
Before you begin, review the following:
- Switching affects only the metadata that OCI uses to display and manage the Data Guard configuration.
- After you switch, you can no longer perform operations on the old Data Guard Association resource.
- If you use automation, scripts, CLI commands, SDKs, or APIs that reference the existing Data Guard Association resource, update them to use the Data Guard Group resource.
- OCI will deprecate the existing Data Guard Association APIs after written notification and a transition period.
Procedure
Perform the following steps to switch to the new Data Guard Group resource using the OCI Console:
- On the DB Systems list page, select the DB system that contains the database that you want to work with. If you need help finding the list page or the DB system, see List the DB Systems.
- On the Databases tab, select the database that you want to work with.
- On the database details page, select the Data Guard Associations tab.
- In the Switch to the new Data Guard Group resource banner, select Switch to new resource.
- In the Switch to the new Data Guard Group resource panel, review the information about the switch and select Start.
The Data Guard Association resource is converted to a Data Guard Group resource. The Data Guard configuration remains available, and you can manage it from the new Data Guard Group resource.
