About Installing Additional Software

You can install additional software on Oracle Big Data Cloud, but do so at your own risk. Certain software installations can affect the proper functioning of the service.

Note the following:

• Using Ambari to install and manage additional services will cause patching to fail.

• Changing the default Python version can have adverse effects on lifecycle operations such as start, stop, restart, scale-in, scale-out, and patching.

• If you choose to install third-party products, they should be installed on edge nodes and not directly in a Big Data Cloud cluster.

• You are responsible for the maintenance, operation, and support of any additional software you install on Big Data Cloud.
