Use the Adobe Creative Cloud Extension

You can use the assets stored in Oracle Content and Experience Cloud in your Adobe Creative Cloud applications, such as Photoshop.

The extension is available for Adobe Creative Cloud applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Audition) 2018 and higher as part of the desktop app. All you need to do is install the desktop app, configure at least one Oracle Content and Experience Cloud account, then access the extension in your Adobe Creative Cloud application, sign in, and configure it to work the way you want.

Before using the extension, make sure you have access to the repositories where the assets you need are stored. A repository manager must share a repository with you in order for you to use the assets there.

Depending on the Adobe application you use, you'll access the extension through different menus, and you'll have access to different features:

  • Photoshop: Link or embed image assets. Drag assets from the Oracle Content and Experience Cloud panel to the canvas. Upload assets by dragging images from Windows File Explorer, Mac Finder, or the canvas to the Oracle Content and Experience Cloud panel.
  • Illustrator: Link or embed image assets. Drag assets from the Oracle Content and Experience Cloud panel to the canvas. Upload assets by dragging images from Windows File Explorer, Mac Finder, or the canvas to the Oracle Content and Experience Cloud panel.
  • InDesign: Link or embed image assets. Drag assets from the Oracle Content and Experience Cloud panel to the canvas. Upload assets by dragging images from Windows File Explorer, Mac Finder, or the canvas to the Oracle Content and Experience Cloud panel.
  • Premiere Pro: Link image, video, and audio assets. Drag assets from the Oracle Content and Experience Cloud panel to the Projects panel. Upload assets by dragging images from Windows File Explorer or Mac Finder to the Oracle Content and Experience Cloud panel. Uploading assets from the Projects panel isn't available due to API limitations in Premiere Pro.
  • After Effects: Link image, video, and audio assets. Drag assets from the Oracle Content and Experience Cloud panel to the Projects panel. Upload assets by dragging images from Windows File Explorer, Mac Finder, or the Projects panel to the Oracle Content and Experience Cloud panel.
  • Audition: Embed video and audio assets. Drag assets from the Oracle Content and Experience Cloud panel to the Editor or Files panels. Upload assets by dragging images from Windows File Explorer, Mac Finder, or the Editor or Files panels to the Oracle Content and Experience Cloud panel. The extension options (Preferences, Help, About) are available via the command bar.

Using the Extension

Before you use the extension for the first time, you need to use the desktop app to connect to Oracle Content and Experience Cloud. The extension gets the account information from the desktop app.

  1. Open the Extensions menu in the Adobe application. This is a submenu accessed from another menu, such as Window. The location of the menu varies, depending on the application you’re using.
  2. Select Oracle Content and Experience on the extension list.
  3. Sign in with your account name and password. If you have multiple accounts, select the one you want to use.

    Note:

If you see a message that no repositories are found, it means that either repositories have not yet been configured or no repositories have been shared with you under the account name you used for sign-in.
  4. You can work with Assets view, Links view, or Renditions view. In Assets view, you can browse or search for assets, and place them into the Adobe Creative Cloud application. In Links view, you can see a list of assets that are already linked to the current project. In Renditions view, you can see all system and custom renditions associated with an asset.

    • Replace the rendition with the selected layer.
    • Replace the rendition with the selected image.
    • Delete the rendition.

Customizing the Extension

You can change how assets are filtered and other usage details. Click more options menu, and then select Preferences. You can perform the following tasks:

  • Change the account used—Select Accounts, and then select a different account from the list.
  • Adjust the filter settings—The extension works with the basic types of images, video, and audio with a predefined list of file extensions for those types. You can customize the basic types by changing the name of the filter or add additional extensions in the Extensions area of the dialog.

To add a new filter, enter the filter name and the identifier, choose the type for the filter, and provide the file extensions used with the filter. For example, to add a filter for raw images, you could name the filter Camera Raw, enter the identifier as image_raw, set the type to image, and set the extensions to .crw and .nef.

Click Save when you’re done customizing the filters.

  • Specify how you want changes to assets to be handled—You can automatically upload any changes to assets or you can handle that manually. For example, if you have an asset linked to a current project and you make local changes to that asset, when the asset is saved, it can be automatically updated in the project.
