Creating an assessment for MySQL migrations

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Database Migration lets you create an assessment to analyze the best possible method for database migration.

Creating an assessment for MySQL migrations by performing the following steps:

  1. Enter a Name.
  2. Enter a Description.
  3. Select the Compartment.
  4. Select the Database type. You can select either MySQL database.
  5. In the Source database:
  6. Select the Database objects by clicking on Select objects.

The Manage objects window lets you specify objects; schema and object name can be specified with Java regular expressions. See Selecting objects for MySQL migration for more information.

  7. In the Target database, select the target type:
    • Select the Connect to the database option if you have already created a connection. If you do not have a target database connection, you can either create a new connection or simply select the target database type. The available options are as follows:
    • Select the Select the target database type option if you do not have a target database or if Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Console cannot connect to the database. Select the Database type.
  8. In the Migration options, perform the following configurations:
    • Migration scope:
      • Full: Migrate all the available databases.
      • Schema: (Default) Migrate only the database specified in the database connection details.
    • Select the Network speed.
Speed of the network connection that will be used to transfer data during migration (for example, FastConnect, VPN, direct internet).

      Note:

Currently, this value does not impact the selection process for determining the appropriate migration method.
    • Select the Acceptable downtime
    • Select the Data size for migration
    • Select the DDL changes expected as Yes or No
  9. Enable the Create and run assessment toggle. Turning this off only creates the assessment and you have to manually run the first assessment step.
  10. In the Advanced options, tags help you locate resources within your tenancy. You can add and view a assessment's tags. Select Add tag or see Managing Tags and Tag Namespaces to learn more about tagging.
