What’s New for Oracle Database Exadata Express Cloud Service
Welcome to the new Oracle Database Exadata Express Cloud Service! This service provides you a dedicated Oracle Pluggable Database (PDB) running Oracle Database 12c Release 2 Enterprise Edition (with options) on Oracle Exadata engineered systems in the Oracle Cloud.
Exadata Express is a fully managed service with options up to 4 OCPU and 1 TB of database storage. New cloud databases are provisioned for you within minutes. Exadata Express is ideal for production applications that consist of small to medium sized data as well as developers, testers, evaluators and other users who are looking for a full Oracle Database experience at an affordable entry-level price.

Upgrade your Client Credentials |
An update to the root SSL/TLS certificate used for Exadata Express SQL*Net connections went into effect in July 2018. All customers who connect to Exadata Express using a SQL*Net database client, must promptly download new client credential files and re-connect. See Downloading Client Credentials in Using Oracle Database Exadata Express Cloud Service. |
| Updated SSL/TLS certificates | An update to the SSL/TLS certificates used for encrypted HTTP access to Exadata Express (including access to the service console and any deployed APEX apps or REST endpoints) went into effect in July 2018. These new SSL/TLS certificates are signed by DigiCert certificate authority. They are trusted by modern web browsers by default and are renewed by Oracle annually. For non-browser clients that connect to APEX apps and REST endpoints deployed in Exadata Express, Oracle recommends adding the DigiCert Global Root CA certificate to the client's trust store (for example, Oracle Wallet, Java TrustStore). When this root certificate is trusted, annual certificate renewals are transparent to the client. |

The "Invoke SQLcl" build step in Oracle Developer Cloud Service has been enhanced to accept client credentials for Exadata Express cloud databases. You can now define complex orchestrations that connect seamlessly to one or several cloud databases. Exadata Express has a brand new look for the service console. The landing page of the UI console now displays three categories: Welcome Tour, Develop, and Manage. The console also displays the current database, APEX version, and storage usage. There are step-by-step product videos for new users and a YouTube video playlist option under the Welcome Tour page. You will also notice easy navigation tabs on the left to jump to Home, Develop, and Manage. Contextual links for easy access to the online documentation are available and other miscellaneous usability enhancements are available in the new console UI. |
