Brightidea

Before You Begin

Introduction

This document describes how to configure Oracle Identity Cloud Service to provide Single Sign-On (SSO) for Brightidea using SAML.

About Brightidea

Brightidea offers a centralized innovation platform that employs the power of crowdsourcing to turn ideas into reality.

After integrating Brightidea with Oracle Identity Cloud Service:

  • Users can access Brightidea using their Oracle Identity Cloud Service login credentials.
  • Users can start Brightidea using the Oracle Identity Cloud Service My Apps console.
  • Admins can assign and revoke user access to the Brightidea app using the Oracle Identity Cloud Service administration console.

What Do You Need?

  • An Oracle Identity Cloud Service account with authorization rights to manage applications and users (Identity Domain Administrator or Application Administrator).
  • A Brightidea account with a verified domain to include when you register the Brightidea app in Oracle Identity Cloud Service.

Configuring the Brightidea App in Oracle Identity Cloud Service

Use this section to register and activate the Brightidea app, and then assign users to the app.

Prerequisite Step

A verified domain name is required before you can register and activate the Brightidea app. You obtain that domain name from Brightidea.

The Brightidea domain name appears in the Brightidea home URL: https://<Domain_Name>.brightidea.com.

Registering and Activating the Brightidea App

  1. Access the Oracle Identity Cloud Service administration console, select Applications, and then click Add.

  2. Click App Catalog.

  3. Search for Brightidea, and then click Add.

  4. In the App Details section, enter your Brightidea Domain Name, and then click Next.

  5. Click Download Identity Provider Metadata.

Tip: This file is used later during the Brightidea configuration in the "Configuring SSO for Brightidea" section.

  6. Click Finish. Oracle Identity Cloud Service displays a confirmation message.

  7. Click Activate, and then click Activate Application. Oracle Identity Cloud Service displays a confirmation message.

Assigning Users to the Brightidea App

  1. On the Brightidea app page in Oracle Identity Cloud Service, select the Users tab, and then click Assign. The Assign Users window appears.

  2. Select the users that you want to assign to Brightidea, and then click OK. Oracle Identity Cloud Service displays a confirmation message stating that the Brightidea app is assigned to the users that you selected.

Note: Brightidea supports Just-In-Time (JIT) provisioning.

Configuring SSO for Brightidea

  1. Access Brightidea as an administrator at: https://<Domain_Name>.brightidea.com. The Brightidea home page appears.

  2. From the upper-right corner, click the Settings icon, and then select Setup.

  3. Click the Authentication tab, and then click SAML Profiles from the left pane.

  4. Click Add New, under Identity Provider Setting.

Note: The SAML Profile Name is auto-populated after you click Add New.

  5. Click Browse next to the Upload Metadata field to upload the metadata file and use the table to update the SAML assertion attributes.

This table lists the mandatory federated authentication attributes that you must set to complete the SSO configuration.
    Attribute Settings
    Email Enter mail.
    Screen Name Enter FirstName.

Note: The Single Sign-on Service, Identity Provider Issuer, and Upload Public Key fields are auto-populated after you upload the metadata file.

Verifying the Integration

Use this section to verify that SSO initiated from both Oracle Identity Cloud Service (IdP Initiated SSO) and Brightidea (SP Initiated SSO) works.

Verifying Identity Provider Initiated SSO from Oracle Identity Cloud Service

  1. Access the Oracle Identity Cloud Service My Profile console: https://<IDCS-Service-Instance>.identity.oraclecloud.com/ui/v1/myconsole.

  2. Log in using credentials for a user that is assigned to the Brightidea app. Oracle Identity Cloud Service displays a shortcut to Brightidea under My Apps.

  3. Click Brightidea. The Brightidea home page appears.

  4. Confirm that the user that is logged in is the same for both Brightidea and Oracle Identity Cloud Service.

This confirms that SSO that is initiated from Oracle Identity Cloud Service works.

Verifying Service Provider Initiated SSO from Brightidea

  1. Access the Brightidea login URL: https://<Domain_Name>.brightidea.com.

    The Brightidea login page appears.

  2. Click Log in with Company Name SSO Sandbox SSO.

You are redirected to the Oracle Identity Cloud Service login page.

  3. Log in using credentials for a user that is assigned to the Brightidea app. The Brightidea home page appears.

  4. On the Brightidea home page, confirm that the user that is logged in is the same for both Brightidea and Oracle Identity Cloud Service.

This confirms that SSO that is initiated from Brightidea works.

Troubleshooting

Use this section to locate solutions to common integration issues.

Known Issues
