Before You Begin

Introduction

This document describes how to configure Oracle Identity Cloud Service to provide Single Sign-On (SSO) for &frankly using SAML.

About &frankly

&frankly (Software-as-a-Source) is an innovative way to keep track of and drive employee engagement in your organization, through quick, pulsed questions, and actionable insights.

After integrating the &frankly app with Oracle Identity Cloud Service:

  • Users can access &frankly using their Oracle Identity Cloud Service login credentials.
  • Users can start &frankly using the Oracle Identity Cloud Service My Apps console.
  • Admins can assign and revoke user access to the &frankly app using the Oracle Identity Cloud Service administration console.

What Do You Need?

  • An Oracle Identity Cloud Service account with authorization rights to manage applications and users (Identity Domain Administrator or Application Administrator).
  • Make sure that the email ID of each user in &frankly matches the primary email ID of the Oracle Identity Cloud Service account.

Configuring the &frankly App in Oracle Identity Cloud Service

Use this section to register and activate the &frankly app, and then assign users to the application.

Prerequisite Step

A verified Company ID is required before you can register and activate the &frankly app. You obtain that Company ID from &frankly. The user account should be created on both Oracle Identity Cloud Service and &frankly for SSO.

Registering and Activating the &frankly App

  1. Access the Oracle Identity Cloud Service administration console, select Applications, and then click Add.

  2. Click App Catalog.

  3. Search for &frankly, and then click Add.

  4. In the App Details section, enter the Company ID provided to you by &frankly, and then click Next.

  5. Click Download Identity Provider Metadata.

    Tip: Use this file later during the &frankly configuration in the "Configuring SSO for &frankly" section.

  6. Click Finish. Oracle Identity Cloud Service displays a confirmation message.

  7. Click Activate, and then click Activate Application. Oracle Identity Cloud Service displays a confirmation message.

Assigning Users to the &frankly App

  1. On the &frankly App page in Oracle Identity Cloud Service, select the Users tab, and then click Assign. The Assign Users window appears.

  2. Select the users that you want to assign to &frankly, and then click OK. Oracle Identity Cloud Service displays a confirmation message stating that the &frankly app is assigned to the users that you selected.

Configuring SSO for &frankly

Send an email to &frankly with the downloaded Oracle Identity Cloud Service metadata and request to enable SAML 2.0 for your &frankly account.

Verifying the Integration

Use this section to verify that SSO initiated from both Oracle Identity Cloud Service (IdP initiated SSO) and &frankly (SP initiated SSO) works.

Verifying Identity Provider Initiated SSO from Oracle Identity Cloud Service

  1. Access the Oracle Identity Cloud Service My Profile console using the URL: https://<IDCS-Service-Instance>.identity.oraclecloud.com/ui/v1/myconsole.

  2. Log in using credentials for a user that is assigned to the &frankly app. Oracle Identity Cloud Service displays a shortcut to &frankly under My Apps.

  3. Click &frankly. The &frankly home page appears.

  4. Confirm that the user that is logged in is the same for both &frankly and Oracle Identity Cloud Service. Click Be frank to verify the user name.

This confirms that SSO that is initiated from Oracle Identity Cloud Service works.

Verifying Service Provider Initiated SSO from &frankly Networks

  1. Access the &frankly Networks login URL: http://andfrankly.com/.

  2. Click Sign in, provide the assigned email id, and then click Continue. The Oracle Identity Cloud Service login page appears.

  3. Log in using credentials for a user that is assigned to the &frankly app. The &frankly home page appears.

  4. Confirm that the user that is logged in is the same for both &frankly and Oracle Identity Cloud Service. Click Be frank to verify the user name.

This confirms that SSO that is initiated from &frankly works.

Troubleshooting

Use this section to locate solutions to common integration issues.

Known Issues

Oracle Identity Cloud Service displays the message “You are not authorized to access the app. Contact your system administrator" or “There is a problem with your account. Please contact Support."

Cause 1: &frankly application has been deactivated by the administrator.

Solution 1: Administrator needs to activate the &frankly application.

Cause 2: The administrator revokes access for the user at the same time that the user is trying to access the &frankly app using Oracle Identity Cloud Service.

Solution 2:

  • Access the Oracle Identity Cloud Service administration console, select Applications, and then select &frankly.
  • In the App Details section, select Users, and then click Assign to re-assign the user.
&frankly displays the message, “No such user in &frankly. Please contact your &frankly administrator to add a user account for your user."

Cause: User doesn't exist in &frankly.

Solution: Administrator needs to create the user account in the &frankly app.

Unknown Issues

For unknown issues, contact Oracle Support:

  1. Go to https://support.oracle.com.

  2. Select Cloud Support, and then sign in with your support credentials.

  3. In the Cloud Dashboard, confirm that there are no planned outages in Oracle Identity Cloud Service, and then click Create Service Request.

  4. Select Oracle Identity Cloud Service as the service type.

  5. Complete your service request.
