Use Analytics Objects Generated from Data Messages

Device message links use the data messages that you defined for your device. An analytics object is automatically generated each time that you add a data message to a device model in your application. Use these automatically generated analytics objects to store the data that device message links receive from your devices.

Before following these steps, you must define a device model in your application and add at least one data message to that device model. To create a device model, see Creating a New Device Model.

1. Create a device message link or open an existing one.
   See Task Overview for Creating Links and Use Device Message Links to Read Device Data.
2. Select the data format that corresponds to your data message from the Message Format list.
3. Click Save.

The analytics object that corresponds to the selected message format is automatically generated and you can use it from your device message link.

To view the structure of the automatically generated analytics object, click the View Schema link located in the analytics object representation in the diagram above the properties.
