1 What's New in Release 3.6.0

Here’s an overview of new features and enhancements added to Oracle Visual Builder Add-in for Excel in Release 3.6.0.

New and Changed Features

  • Support for Form-over-Table layouts that reference NetSuite SuiteTalk REST web services business objects with some manual configuration. See Configure a NetSuite Catalog for a Form-over-Table Layout.
  • Upload UI and configuration improvements:
    • Ability to configure how the add-in uploads data in batches for an Oracle ADF REST Resource business object. See Configure Batch Uploads.
    • A change to the setting for parallel requests during upload. You now enable parallel requests using a Supports Parallel Requests check box on the Upload tab of the Business Object Editor for the target business object. Previous releases of the add-in included a slider that allowed you to select the number of parallel requests. This slider has been removed in this release. See Enable Parallel Requests During Upload.
    • A new Upload tab on the Business Object Editor for configuring the add-in's upload behavior. See Upload Changes.
  • List of values (LOV) improvements. The add-in now supports using Boolean fields as identity fields for an LOV. It also supports creating a key field ID with the Boolean data type for a local data source (LDS). This allows you to use an LDS to provide the values for an LOV on a Boolean business object field.   • A new Default Value property that lets you set a default value for a business object field. See Set a Default Value for a Business Object Field.
  • Ability to copy the Description property values to the Help Text properties for a given catalog. See Copy Descriptions to Help Text.
  • Ability to remove OAuth configuration properties from an integrated workbook on publish. See Publish an Integrated Excel Workbook.
  • A new API type, "Visual Builder Business Objects" for custom business objects from Visual Builder applications. Prior to 3.6, VBBO catalogs were included with ADF REST catalogs as "Oracle business object REST API" catalogs. See Visual Builder Business Objects.
  • The Refresh Field Titles feature has been removed from the Advanced menu. Use the translation feature to translate workbook-specific text strings such as field titles and help text into your target language. See Manage Workbook Translations.
  • A new Download Data topic that describes how the add-in fetches data from the REST service and displays it in an integrated workbook's Excel worksheet. See Download Data.
