Assigning UNSPSC codes to Products
Assign UNSPSC codes to products and commodities to standardize classification for reporting and analysis.
FILE_UNSPSC:
Users can assign United Nations Standard Products and Services Code (UNSPSC) codes to products and commodities within Oracle E-Business Suite Data Intelligence.
UNSPSC is a globally recognized, open standard that enables consistent and accurate classification of products and services across industries. This classification improves reporting, analysis, and data consistency.
UNSPSC codes must be configured using the inline dataset FILE_UNSPSC.
This dataset is used to map products and commodities to their corresponding UNSPSC codes, ensuring standardized classification within the data warehouse.
The below figure illustrates a sample extract containing UNSPSC data. In this example, the UNSPSC code assigned to Cats is 10101501, and the UNSPSC code assigned to Dogs is 10101502
FILE_ITEM_TO_UNSPSC_UPDATE:
Classify each product in FILE_ITEM_TO_UNSPSC_UPDATE by assigning the appropriate UNSPSC Code.
The assigned code must be entered into the UNSPSC_CODE column.
A list of UNSPSC Codes can be found in FILE_UNSPSC inline dataset
For example, you might assign UNSPSC Code 10124708 to PRODUCT1 and UNSPSC Code 1010A to PRODUCT2. After editing, the Inline dataset might contain the following data:
| PRODUCT_ID | PRODUCT_NAME | PART_NUMBER | UNSPSC_CODE | DATASOURCE_NUM_ID |
|---|---|---|---|---|
|
1-2IBV |
PRODUCT1 |
5142 |
10124708 |
200 |
|
1002A |
PRODUCT2 |
5142 |
1010A |

Product ID, Product Name are Inventory Product ID and Name.
Part Number is SEGMENT1 column of MTL_SYSTEM_ITEMS_B.
