Processing Deletes

In the final stage of the soft delete process, the ETL process uses the corresponding Delete (_DEL) table as the source to update the target warehouse tables.

For every record whose primary key exists in the _DEL table, the corresponding fact (_F) or dimension (_D) record is updated by setting:

• DELETE_FLG = 'Y'

The records remain in the data warehouse to preserve historical data, while the logical delete flag indicates that they no longer exist in the source system. Reporting and analytical processes can use the DELETE_FLG column to exclude logically deleted records, as appropriate.
