How can I restrict file formats for attachments?

You can use the Manage Attachment File Formats setup task in the Setup and Maintenance work area to specify any restrictions for file formats for attachments.

File formats that aren’t specified in this task can be used for attachments.

Specify the following information when adding an entry in the setup task.

Fields and required values

Field	What to enter
Format Code	MIME type of the file. For example, to specify a PDF file, enter application/pdf You can also use the Create From Sample button to get the MIME type from a sample file.
User Name	Display name of the file format. For example, PDF.
State	Open or Download – Files of this MIME type can be downloaded. Deny – Files of this MIME type can’t be uploaded as attachments. If an attachment of this MIME type was uploaded before setting this restriction, that attachment can’t be downloaded.
